A Step-By-Step Guide

MARKETING FUNDING:
Part of the initiative is to fund you £50 towards marketing activities. It could be digital IG boosts, poster or flyer printing and any other ideas to help promote the night.

Cat & Trish can’t guarantee that we will be able to attend your event as there are so many within the month that we manage.

STEP 1
MAKE YOUR ARTWORK

TIMELINE:
Work out how many weeks you have and work backwards. An ideal campaign is between 3-4 weeks where you’ll launch the event online and then supporting content in the following weeks such as spotlight on what the night/collective/brand is about, who your DJs are and why people should come and dance with you.

REQUIREMENTS

We need a list of IG handles of your DJ lineup for copy & paste.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Logo. Download here
    Use “The Faded Community” logo as a small part of the poster. You don’t need to write “Faded Society” (me as a DJ) anywhere

  • You will need to add a header title “Faded Presents Project” into the design at the top. This can be in your own font

  • Include Title, Date and Time

  • Mention if it’s a free event or ticketed after a certain time etc

  • Include a few genres to give the audience a feel of what to expect

  • Include DJ names from the lineup

  • Provide a reference to what the night is going to be about, either with words or visual design. If it’s a dark and moody techno night then you’re unlikely to use bright colours. If it’s a happy disco night then you probably should design something fun!

    You must submit the below artwork variations before the deadline

  • 1:1 Square - for an IG design inside a 4:5 Portrait

  • 16:9 Banner - for the website


    You should be making other assets for yourself to use




BANNER DESIGN

This is important for two reasons

  1. If you’re creating the event on RA then you need to use the banner as image 1 out of the two available image slots. This is because when the event is on the main RA feed, they show in 16:9 ratio and not your poster. See examples on the Faded Society Promoter page

    I’d suggest using RA for your events as they’re the most known for DJ/electronic nights. They’re also rolling out features to sync with SoundCloud soon to easily connect artists to the events.

  2. If you’d like your event to be included on the What’s On page of Faded Society website. I won’t be able to feature you if you don’t have this artwork prepared



The banner ratio should be 16:9 or 1920 x 1080 pxl.

The below is what it will look like once the event page is complete with two images and descriptions next to it. The banner and second image can be two different designs.

STEP 2
MAKE YOUR ra page

DECIDE

  1. IF you’re making your own Resident Advisor event:
    Then please add the below lines into the event description

    First line of the description body:
    FADED SOCIETY PRESENTS: xxx (insert title of the event)

    Last line of the description body:
    [ This is an event & project supported by Faded Society, who is a DJ and leader of an underground music community. Supporting up & coming DJs and artists to provide a platform to play, perform and connect. ]

  2. IF I need to create one for you on the Faded Society promoter’s page:

    Please send me the below asap
    * A paragraph to describe the event
    * A list of all DJs exactly how they’re spelt
    * Two artwork (16:9 banner and poster)

RA ARTIST PROFILE

Make a RA artist profile in advance to be tagged to the event. It may take over 48 hours sometimes to be approved by RA so plan ahead. Let your lineup of DJs know also.

CHECK LIST

  • Title of event

  • Date and Time

  • Location (Venue name, postcode etc)

  • Describe the vibes of the night, what people can expect

  • Describe a few genres to hint the music

  • Describe the DJs to let people know more

  • Advise if this is a free event, ticketed online only, door sales or if it’s free until a certain time then OTD tickets applies afterwards

  • Think about, if you were a stranger finding out about a random event you’ve never heard of then what information would you like to see to persuade you to come?

INSTAGRAM

  • Normal tagging: You can tag @TheFadedCommunity in any of your content on Posts (grids). You can also tag me on Stories but I can’t guarantee that I can reshare all the time based on how much content I already have on my page. I don’t want to share too much info/ be overwhelming to my own audience.

  • Collab tagging: I will only accept this if you show me the cover before hand and add in the below text:

  • " This event is hosted by us but supported by @TheFadedCommunity, this Faded Presents Project is a free initiative for DJs supported by Faded Society herself to help the planning, execution and marketing of throwing your own event"

WHATSAPP COMMUNITY: FADED RAVERS FAM CHANNEL

I’ll be able to share your event at the start of each month to call out the FADED PRESENTS project. I’ll reshare again on the week and day of the event

You’re welcome to post your own texts, images and videos in the channel to promote the event. The more conversations you have with the community, the more support you might garner

As mentioned above, if you submit the artwork and content needed in time then this will be on the official website on the WHAT’S ON with a direct link also on Faded Society’s Beacons page #LinkInBio

OTHER CHANNELS

If you’ve got other sales and marketing channels such as your own website, email subscriptions, Linktree or Beacons link in bio supplements and any other groups or support channels then feel free to ask me on how you might be able to take advantage of these to promote your event.

SPREAD THE WORD

Last but not least. Don’t underestimate the power of word of mouth! It’s still hands down the best tool of marketing. If you and your DJ lineup talk about the event in real life, online, in yours or their own whatsapp friend groups then the exposure will be multiplied.

Your job as a leader of the event is not only to lead the way and talk about your event, but to encourage the lineup of DJs to do so. This is not only in verbal communications but also providing them the right tools such as designed content about themselves, all the relevant artwork that they can share on their own grids and Stories. Collab tagging where you can and ask them to reshare content.

STEP 4
contacts

  1. Trish will create a group chat for you + Trish (Tpot + Cat (Faded Society) to help make the planning chat easier.

  2. Optional: Create a group chat with all of your DJs so they can discuss any questions and be able to speak to me directly before the event. If you don’t want to have them contact me then we can speak by ourselves

A lot of people tag @FadedSocietyOfficial account - this is WRONG. Please tag @TheFadedCommunity for all events
The other one is Cat’s personal account.

VENUE

Club Makossa (Dalston), you will be contacted by the venue owner/manager a day before (or sometimes the week of) the event to confirm time of arrival/ set up if needed

Your event time: 8pm - 1am
Happy Hour: 7-8pm
DJ drink tokens: You should get 2 per DJ

There's no pressure from the venues in terms of fees or bar sales as part of this project. Spread the word as much as you can, bring friends and dancers and have a good night. They will survive if people buy drinks so you can help them by telling people to drink!

FINAL CHECKLIST

  1. Know your deadline to submit content. This is advised in the email

  2. Create your artwork in various forms and ratios. Submit in a Google folder link

  3. Advise if you are going to make your own RA event or FS to do it

  4. Create your RA Artist profile if not done

  5. Send a list of Insta handles of the lineup of DJs

  6. Contact us via Whatsapp chat that Trish will create

  7. Ask questions!

I know this is a lot of information!
