My name is Cat, the face behind the brand and DJ alias. I wanted to introduce myself properly and give you an insight into the world of Faded Society.

I’ve always loved writing so I wanted to present a series of blogs covering topics that will be helpful or interesting to you as a DJ or artist in the music scene. But who am I and why am I so passionate about nurturing a community of grassroots talents?

I’m a DJ, event producer and promoter, a multi-disciplinary designer and expert marketer. I’ve worked for so many industries including Fashion, Home and Events with brands such as John Lewis, Fortnum & Mason, Yeo Valley and more which ultimately trained me to understand corporate strategies and the bigger picture. But my passion has always been about working with people and communities in a smaller ecosystem to truly make a difference.

Let me take you back to 2021 when I threw a debut Halloween party above a pub. I faced so many issues including uninvited crashers and hiding from the police for an hour in total silence and darkness because we legally weren’t meant to use the space (👀hehe). With all that said, it still resulted in 70 odd happy ravers from start to finish. Who then came back the next year for an even bigger Halloween…And that’s how Faded Society events was born (and the signature Halloween parties)

I literally just wanted to make s*** happen. Then when I finally made it happen for myself, I realised that I wanted to make it happen for other DJs and artists as well.

Skip forward to 2024, I’ve now produced over 20 events across London. From basement clubs to industrial warehouses to top venues such as Colour Factory! I’ve presented different events from the humble underground raves, to community open decks and now London’s one & only live Back2back DJ battle. This DJ competition is now supported and sponsored by respectable brands such as Westend DJ, Mixcloud, Riot Noise, Sound Basha studios and more!

Since I have so many alter-egos or “job roles” as listed in the beginning (some might even call me a millennial with ADHD who doesn’t know how to sit still lol), I’ve been blessed to know first hand about how to be a DJ, how to talk about music, how to promote myself online and to other bookers, how to throw an event and even sell tickets! But the reality is that not everyone has the same experience to share knowledge.

I wish I had guidance when I first started DJing and putting on events. I wish someone had told me to “trust the process” and how to plan around the fact that ravers only buy tickets at the last minute. It would have made sooo many things a lot easier.

So I quit my super long-term job in March this year and haven’t looked back. As scary as it is to say out loud - this is now my full time job! I launched Faded Society Ltd as a proper Events and Creative agency.

To provide opportunities and platforms for DJs and artists, helping them grow in their craft and confidence. They say “don’t give up on your 10 thousand hours”, which means don’t give up on what you know how to do best. So I’ve incorporated my marketing expertise to provide services helping all individuals and brands, learning to talk about themselves and promote what they’re doing. I tried to keep these services accessible and affordable because I’m not here to cater to bigger premium corporate brands, I’m here to help the people.

If you had told me back in 2021 that this would all happen - I’d laugh in your face. If you see me IRL then ask me what the actual meaning of “Faded Society” is 😅 But I’m so glad everything has brought me here. I’m feeling blessed every day to wake up and get to do what I set out to do.
